HIGH RIVER OTTERS SWIM CLUB: 2026 REGISTRATION
We are so excited to be able to offer swimmers an alternative program while our facilities are being renovated. A complete schedule will not be available mid-April. However, a tentative practice schedule and all regular swim meets, including Regionals and Provincials is ready to go!!
A special note for parents:
- The first two weeks of May will consist of scheduled team building activities, dryland training and special events (such as picture day), while we wait for pool access. We will have optional Saturday swimming out of Claresholm during those weeks. Stay tuned for our schedule updates!

- Jr. Pups (4-6 yrs) — $275
- Pups (4-6 yrs) — $360
- Otters (7 - 20 yrs) 60 Minute Program — $430
- Masters Program (21 years and up) — $325
Special note - due to pool space there will not be a 90 minute group this season.
E-transfers can be made to [email protected] with the Swimmer and Family name in the message. All E-transfers must be sent prior to May 1st, 2026.

The High River Otters Swim Club is a competitive summer swim program operating from the beginning of May until mid-August and focuses on SPORT FOR LIFE!
Please read through our registration package and let us know if you have any questions! We are available to answer questions that families may have regarding the upcoming swim season.
Please note that registrations will not be considered complete until payment and volunteer commitment cheques are received.
HIGH RIVER OTTERS:
- Is a member of the Alberta Summer Swim Association (ASSA)
- The ASSA results database contains meet results for all ASSA clubs in Alberta.
- Strives to improve the four competitive swim strokes in order for members to compete with other Swim Clubs to the best of each swimmer’s ability.
- Fosters team spirit and friendships.
- Promotes physical fitness, health, and a sport for life.
- Improves self-confidence, increases self-esteem and allows swimmers to enjoy the FUN of swimming.
What fees can I expect?
Please see the individual programs for associated fees. These fees include all pool time, coaching, an Otters t-shirt, meet entries for the entire season including our home meet and Regionals, an individual and team photo.
A Volunteer/Fundraising Cheque in the amount of $200 is due at/by the parent meeting & mock meet (date to be announced). There will be swim meet volunteer/donation commitments. This will be further discussed during the parent meeting. Cheques will be returned once criteria for volunteering and fundraising is met.
Note for families with 3 or more swimmers: The first two swimmers will be charged the total fees as outlined above. A multi-swimmer discount of $50 for every additional swimmer (i.e. swimmer 3, 4, 5…) will be deducted from the total registration fee.
Expectations:
Swimmer Participation/Commitment Expectations
- All OTTERS are encouraged to attend as many swim meets as possible. As a competitive swim club, a minimum of 3 swim meets throughout the season is encouraged. It is strongly suggested that Regionals is one of the meets attended. The meets are held on weekends.
- Sign and follow the behavior expectations of the Otters Club.
- Bring appropriate gear for swim practice and swim meets.
- Goggles, practice suits and swim caps are highly recommended.

- Otter swim caps are available for purchase at a cost of $12 each.
Parent Participation/Commitment Expectations
Forms & Policy
- Sign and support the Behaviour policy of the Otters program.
- Complete Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Swim Alberta).
- Complete volunteer screening process.
- Parents are RESPONSIBLE for their children before and after they leave the pool deck. Parents are expected to monitor the change rooms while swimmers are changing.
- At least one parent/guardian registration is required. New accounts will be sent an email confirmation message with instructions to set up a password.
- At least one parent/guardian email address must be provided. Check the boxes to indicate which parent/guardians should receive team-wide emails.
- Previously registered parents/guardians cannot be edited during registration. Please contact your team's admin to request edits.
Swim Meets
- Please sign up for SWIM MEETS ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE sign-up will be completed through the coaches. If a swimmer does not sign up for a meet, it will be assumed that the swimmer is not entering. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- Officials Clinic Commitment: At least one parent/guardian is required to volunteer.
**Each swim meet requires about 45 people, volunteers like you per session to run so we need your help! These courses can be taken online and you are always guaranteed a good seat, and meet other great parents when you are on deck. Please do not be intimidated to participate! There are a variety of positions for all skill sets at swim meets.
- New Families: One parent is required to complete a minimum of one official’s course
- Level One Timer/Marshall or Level Two Stroke and Turn
- Complete the minimum deck requirements (e.g. 3 timing shifts) throughout the season.
- Should your child attend Regionals and/or qualify for Provincials, it is mandatory that you volunteer for a position(s) at each event.
- Courses for Officials are available online at www.assa.ca.
- Returning Families: If your family already has these official status, we encourage you to take the next course option (i.e. Clerk of Course/Recorder/Scorer/ Starter, etc.)
- High River Otters Swim Meet (TBA)
- A sign-up sheet for volunteer positions will be circulated digitally at the end of May/beginning of June.
- Each family will also be required to provide a food item for the official’s meals. A sign-up sheet will be circulated at the end of May/beginning of June.
- Each family with swimmers in our Otters Program must volunteer for 2 shifts at our home meet and Regionals.
- PUP program parents with swimmers competing in the home meet will be required to sign up for one shift.
- Parents with swimmers Jr. Pup, not attending swim meets will not be required to volunteer, but support is always graciously accepted, and it is a great way to learn.
Fundraising Commitment:
- Each family will be responsible for participating in fundraisers throughout the season. Specifics TBD.
